As a lifelong resident of Los Angeles, Ms. Burton received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, as well as a Minor in Business Administration through the USC Marshall School of Business. She subsequently worked as a television and film Producer for seven years before attending law school. She received her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles where she graduated with a Concentration in Civil Litigation. While in law school, Ms. Burton focused on developing the skills that would serve her goal of becoming a plaintiffs’ trial attorney by working for Loyola’s Alarcón Advocacy Center drafting successful amicus briefs to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on behalf of various women’s organizations and others in First Resort, Inc. v. Herrera, et al., and on behalf of Members of Congress, Representative Farr (D-CA) and Representative Rohrabacher (R-CA), in U.S.A. v. Noah Kleinman. Ms. Burton is an active member of several prominent legal organizations, including Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), Lambda Legal, American Association for Justice (AAJ), and other national and local bar associations. Ms. Burton is also actively involved in several women lawyers’ organizations including the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA) and California Women Lawyers (CWL).
Ms. Burton is licensed to practice in the State of California and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
In addition to her busy practice, in her free time Ms. Burton enjoys traveling with her family, photography, water sports, walking the Palos Verdes Bluffs with her rescue dogs, and volunteering for organizations supporting human and animal rights.
